Q: What do I bring to a fitting?
A: Besides your dress, bring the shoes and undergarments you plan to wear on the day of your event, especially if you plan on using shapewear! These items can have a significant effect on the fit of your dress.
Q: How long does the alteration process take?
A: It varies according to complexity, but expect at least two fittings over the course of a few weeks. The first is an initial assessment, the second is to check on the work being done. More fittings are added as needed, depending on the nature of the alterations and whether any changes were made to the initial plan.
Q: What can I expect for the initial fitting/ gown assessment?
A: At your initial fitting we will take your measurements, define the scope of work to be done to your dress, and pin/mark your dress accordingly. You will be given a cost estimate. Your subsequent fitting(s) will be planned and booked.
Q: When should I schedule my fittings?
A: Your first fitting should be no later than 3 months prior to your wedding. The final fitting should be scheduled within 3 weeks of your event date.
Q: What if I have a drastic weight change, or get pregnant?
A: These things happen and I make every effort to do my alterations with this in mind, so don’t sweat it! However, if your measurements change substantially after your first fitting, there may be additional fees if the work has to be re-done.
If you’re pregnant, congratulations! But please let me know as soon as possible so we can plan accordingly.
Q: What if I don’t have shoes yet?
A: I understand that footwear selection can take time, but it is ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY to have your shoes for fittings, otherwise the process will be delayed. Failure to bring shoes may result in an added fee.
Q: What if I need bust support, but don’t want to/can’t wear a bra with my dress?
A: There are several options, including sew-in cups of different shapes, sizes, and push-up levels.
Q: Can I add some bling?
A: Yes please! I love adding special details, especially to the neckline, waist, or shoulders.
